🛍️ Case Study: Building Good - A Curated E-Commerce Platform for Exceptional Products Role: Product Manager Platform: Good Online - Web & Mobile, Good Admin Timeline: Ongoing 🚀 Overview As the founding Product Manager at Good, I led the product vision and execution for a new kind of e-commerce platform, one designed to elevate everyday life by connecting customers with exceptional products from Nigeria’s top independent creators. From launching curated discovery experiences to managing offline-to-online shopping flows, I worked cross-functionally with design, engineering, operations, and marketing, legal, items and curations, etc. to bring Good from 0 to live.
🧩 The Problem
In Nigeria, shoppers face two major challenges:
Finding high-quality local brands that offer great value.
Dealing with clunky online shopping/shipping flows and limited trust in digital-first platforms.
Meanwhile, small creators struggle with:
Getting discovered by new customers.
Managing orders, fulfillment, and digital storefronts effectively.
💡 My Approach
I worked with the founders to define an MVP that prioritized curation, simplicity, and delight. My contributions included:
Product Discovery Experiences:
Designed and launched Everyday Lists: curated daily lists around moments like “Shower Hour,” “Breakfast,” and “Gifting.”
Introduced Good Lists: Editorial-style collections (e.g., Hosting Made Easy, Add These to Your Skincare Routine) that combine storytelling with shoppable products.
Built Discover: a browsable home for all product categories, tags, and featured products and lists.
Creator Pages: Features creators' product catalog and seamless filter system to find what you need fast.
Platform Infrastructure:
Spearheaded the development of admin and creator dashboards for order tracking, product uploads, performance insights, and settlements.
Implemented order flow, product variant handling, vendor-specific views, and delivery integrations with partners.
Team Enablement & Process:
Created product documentations, onboarding materials, and testing flows.
Managed sprint planning, ticket grooming, and product development across multiple teams.
📈 Outcomes
Launched Good Online across multiple neigborhoods in Lagos.
Enabled customers to shop confidently from creators like Arami Essentials, Pepper Rice, Crivel Watches, and many more.
Built strong internal tooling to support creators and the ops team from day one.
Introduced experiences that encouraged discovery, built trust, and simplified the act of buying “Good things.”
🔍 Reflections
This experience taught me the value of local context, tight feedback loops, and building trust-first experiences. As a PM, it was an opportunity to wear many hats, from strategy to execution, and bring a fresh commerce experience to life from scratch. It was one where I was tested, learning new things for the first time, relearning, trials and errors, and an entire wholesome experience with an amazing team.
