Project Overview

DevFest Lagos 2025 is part of the global DevFest series organized by Google Developer Groups (GDG), bringing together thousands of developers, designers, and tech professionals in Nigeria.

As part of the DevFest Lagos 2025 Digital Working Group, I served as the Product Manager for the main website, overseeing planning, execution, and coordination to deliver a reliable, high-impact digital experience for attendees and stakeholders.

Problem Statement

The website needed to:

  • Serve as the single source of truth for event information

  • Handle high traffic during announcements and registration phases

  • Support fast content updates across teams

  • Be delivered under strict timelines tied to event milestones

Given the number of contributors, strong product ownership was essential.

Objectives

  • Deliver a stable, intuitive, and mobile-first event website

  • Clearly communicate schedules, speakers, and logistics

  • Align multiple contributors toward a shared delivery goal

  • Ensure on-time launches ahead of key event announcements

Responsibilities & Scope

  • Defined product scope, priorities, and success criteria

  • Coordinated designers, developers, and content contributors

  • Translated event goals into clear website requirements

  • Managed timelines, dependencies, and blockers

  • Built a pipeline for website content management using Google Sheets

  • Reviewed builds for usability, responsiveness, and clarity

  • Ensured the site remained flexible for last-minute updates

Outcome & Impact

  • Successfully launched the DevFest Lagos 2025 website

  • Enabled seamless management of event updates and information

  • Established a scalable foundation for future DevFest Lagos editions

Key Learnings

  • Clear ownership accelerates delivery in community-driven projects

  • Early prioritization reduces execution friction

  • Flexibility is critical for event-based digital products
